UNCHAINED BANQUET FROM GREEN COUNTRY TEEN CHALLENGE

We are excited to introduce you to the 2017 Banquet, “Unchained”featuring guest speaker Darryl Strawberry. Mr. Strawberry is a former Major League Baseball player who heralds four World Championships and an eight All-Star appearances! In addition to all the accolades he has received, he also has a powerful story of redemption and will be sharing about his journey through addiction and recovery. We are thrilled to hear from Mr. Strawberry and to share about the incredible things that God has been doing among the students of the Green Country and Adolescent centers! It’s because of partners like you - who have walked with us in ministry - that this work is even possible. Did you know that... · the state of Oklahoma ranks 3rd in the nation for mental illness. · the state of Oklahoma ranks 2nd in the nation for substance abuse disorders. · the state of Oklahoma is ranked as 1st in the nation for the highest amount of opioid abuse. · Oklahoma has the most incarcerated women in the nation. · Oklahoma is ranked the 10th most violent state in the nation. · Oklahoma is among the top 4 states dealing with Human Trafficking. “Addiction costs Oklahoma and its residents an estimated $7.2 billion a year. That's more than the state government's budget of $6.7 billion. That's roughly $1,900 for every man, woman and child in the state. It's enough to create about 273,000 median-wage jobs, or to build nine skyscrapers like Oklahoma City's Devon tower.” Not only is the public cost of this epidemic huge, but the amount of services offered to these struggling addicts is even greater! On any given day, anywhere from 600-900 people are on a waiting list to receive help through area recovery programs (Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control). NOW is the time to stand together for the hurting in our state! It is our hope that those who come through the doors of Green Country and the Adolescent Centers of Adult & Teen Challenge of Oklahoma truly become “Unchained” through their time in these life-changing programs.
